Russian millionaire Alexander Shenkman, one of the organizers of the annual "New Wave" pop-music festival in Jurmala, does not have any objections to the Corruption Prevention Bureau whose officers cross-questioned him last week about property deals in Jurmala.

In an interview with the newspaper Telegraf, Shenkman expressed hope that the festival will still be held in Latvia in the future.

Commenting the interrogation by the Corruption Prevention Bureau officers, Shenkman says that they were just doing their job. The Corruption Prevention Bureau summoned him, and he, as an honest citizen, had to go and answer the bureau's questions, informs LETA.

Shenkman believes that this could have a negative impact on Latvian-Russian relations and transit business if the incident is unnecessarily exaggerated. Shenkman himself does not have any business in Latvia, but he still would not want it to happen.

The portal "Ir.lv" previously reported that Igor Krutoy and Alexander Shenkman, the key organizers of "New Wave", were cross-questioned last week by the Corruption Prevention Bureau officers about property deals in Jurmala possibly linked to Latvia's First Party/Latvia's Way leader Ainars Slesers.
