Latvian architects bureau NRJA wins TabFab Creative Quarter sketch design competition

The vision of architects office NRJA (No Rules Just
Architecture) about development of TabFab Creative Quarter almost unanimously
has been announced the best one by the international jury. The winner of the
competition will also receive a monetary prize of EUR 18,000.
The second prize of EUR 14,000 was awarded to the vision of
Latvian and British partnership of Alsins
Architecture, Kalve Arhitekti, Fabrum, while the third prize of EUR 10,000
will be paid to Buvdizains.
The jury also granted four incentive awards of EUR 2,000
each that will go to Danish company SLETH, Latvian and Danish partnership LAAA – Lauder Architects, Ainavu Projektesanas Darbnica ALPS, A. Abeles Inzenieru Birojs, Acitektura, Danish partnership of Arkitekt MAA, DSA Ark Studio, Jorgen Taxholm & Nils
Jeppe Hansen Wuttke & Ringhof Arkitekter BDA MMA, Thomas Ringhof Knud Aarup
Kappel, and British company Richard
Galey & Partners (Leicester).
In total, 17 sketch design projects were submitted in the
competition.
The total prize fund is EUR 50,000, provided by the Danish
Culture Ministry with support from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as
well as in collaboration with the Danish Cultural Institute and private Danish
foundations.
The TabFab Creative Quarter project provides for the
construction of a creative business incubator and workshops, specially adjusted
premises for the Latvian Academy of Culture, the Riga Film Museum and the
Latvian Museum of Photography, as well as cafes and shops.
