New economy minister's priority: creation of support program for business in Latvia

Dana Reizniece-Ozola (Greens/Farmers), the economy minister candidate in the new government of Latvia, told LETA that the creation of a support program for business activities will be one of her main priorities as minister.

She explained that the absorption of EU funding is crucial in the creation of this support program, which would strengthen the competitiveness of local businesses and facilitate export capabilities.
In regard to energy, Reizniece-Ozola said that her priorities are the opening of the gas and electricity markets.
When taking her post as minister, Reizniece-Ozola will relinquish her MP mandate. She will be replaced in parliament Durbe Regional Council Deputy Chairman Edgars Putra (Greens/Farmers), who will also serve as Economy Ministry parliamentary secretary.
Meanwhile, the head of Reizniece-Ozola's office will be former Economy Ministry deputy state secretary on energy matter Gatis Abele.
