Radio SWH Kurzeme starts broadcasting, regional stations are being shut down

As of today, Radio SWH is broadcasting a new expanded program for Kurzeme, called Radio SWH Kurzeme. Along with this new development, Radio SWH regional stations in Ventspils and Liepaja are being shut down; now, broadcasting will be from studios in Riga, as Katrina Pilena, marketing/promotional project manager, informed LETA.

The expanded entity – Radio SWH Kurzeme, is one of the biggest steps in Radio SWH's overall development plan, said Filips Rubenis, the commercial director. "This program will provide information from all parts of Kurzeme region, listeners will hear not only about current events in the largest cities, but also information from villages and remote locations. Currently, Radio SWH is one of the major radio stations in Kurzeme region, but within a year it aims to become the leader there. As Rubenis stressed, "the main strategies in reaching this goal is offering listeners broadcasting of the highest quality, and well-conceived radio programs."

 

Radio SWH Kurzeme will be available to listeners in Ventspils – 105.4 MHz frequency, in Liepaja – 105.1 MHz , in Dundaga – 89.3 MHz, in Saldus 94.7 MHz, Kuldiga – 100.1 MHz, and in Talsi – 102.2 MHz frequency.

 

Along with the basic program – Radio SWH Kurzeme, on work days at the beginning of every hour from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. announcers will present the local news, information about topical events in Kurzeme, and from 11 till 12 noon. listeners can enjoy the entertaining and informative show "Kurzemes kods" with host, actress Sanda Aleknavica. Also, every Thursday at 3.40 p.m., the program "About the City of Ventspils" will air.

 

JS Radio SWH was established in 1993 as Latvia's first private radio station. Now under the Radio SWH umbrella, there are Radio SWH, SWH+, SWH Rock, SWH Gold and the Internet radio station SPIN FM.
