Zaharjins explains that the company's management is puzzled about the Economy Police's searches of his residence, workers' homes and the company. In September 2012, when a criminal investigation was launched on the state of the company and the Economy Police searched the premises, all requested information was submitted, adds the businessman.
Afterwards, Liepajas metalurgs management, including the company's chief economist, accountant, supply and marketing department heads, as well as other specialists, were summoned for questioning. The company's director was the last one answer police questions on January 3, 2013. Everyone provided information. The Economy Police did not ask additional questions and did not request extra information until May 14. Therefore the searches on May 14 leave the company miffed. "We are not leaving the country, on the contrary, we are continuing operations at the factory. The situation is very difficult, and it did not happen overnight, adds Zaharjins.
Zaharjins points out that the criminal investigation opened against the company is unfair. The company's assets were not squandered, the problems were brought about by the fallout from the crisis in the metallurgical industry, says the businessman.
