On Friday, March 21st, Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andris Teikmanis met with Junior Chamber International Latvia (JCI) President Gvido Smiltins, discussing the organization's idea of organizing Latvian entrepreneurs’ visit to Brazil from October 28 to November 9 this year, the Foreign Ministry informed LETA.

Teikmanis noted the necessity of establishing direct contacts between Latvian and Brazilian entrepreneurs, thus facilitating economic cooperation and attracting investments to Latvia. Smiltins pointed out that the goal of the visit is to explore business opportunities in Brazil and its market and promote European companies in Brazil. The program will include business forums, seminars, round table discussions and meetings with city administration and business representatives in three Brazilian cities – Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro and Natal.

The Junior Chamber International is an international non-profit organization with over 200,000 members – young, active people aged 18 to 40 from more than 100 countries across the world. JCI Latvia has been operating as a national organization since 1993 and became a full-fledged member at the JCI World Congress in Philippines in 1998. JCI Latvia currently has six branches – three in Riga, the rest – in Jelgava, Liepaja and Cesis.
