Circulation of Estonian newspapers Postimees and Päevaleht fell in December

The circulation of Estonian newspapers Postimees and Eesti Päevaleht fell in December 2012, while for other larger Estonian daily newspapers it grew as compared to the same time last year, LETA/National Broadcasting reports.

Postimees is still the biggest daily; its average circulation in December was 58,100 copies, a fall by 800 from the same time last year.

 

The average number of printed copies of Õhtuleht grew in a year by 500 to 52,800. The circulation of Eesti Päevaleht fell by 2,000 to 25,200 while that of Äripäev grew by 700 to 13,400.

 

The weekly newspaper Eesti Ekspress had the same circulation as a year ago while the circulation of weekly paper Maaleht grew by 3,300 to 51,900.

 

The peak times of newspapers during recent history date back to the spring of 2007, when Postimees had a circulation of nearly 69,000, Õhtuleht 65,000, Eesti Päevaleht 40,000 and Äripäev 26,000.
