The experts presented the audit results of the carried out research on state control system ensuring the safety of the meat sector, writes LETA/ELTA.

However, the experts highlight that if Lithuania is granted with the permission to export to the US still each company wishing to export will be assessed additionally.

According to Director of the State Food and Veterinary Service of the Republic of Lithuania (VMVT) Jonas Milius, this visit is one the most important stages in the negotiations for permission to export Lithuanian meat products to the US.

"We can already say that national food control system operating in Lithuania meets all the requirements and the minor discrepancies found during the audit will not affect the overall conclusions," said Leader of FSIS Audit Team Faiz Agarib.
