Work related accidents take 9 lives in H1 in Estonia

Print versionEstonian Labour Inspection registered 1,954 work-related accidents in the first half of this year, of which 9 ended in death, Postimees Online reports.

1,529 of the accidents were light and 416 ended with serious injuries.
In the first half of last year, 1,864 work-related accidents happened and in the first half of 1,523 happened.
The increase of number of work-related accidents that ended in death is causing concerns: there were 9 such deaths in the first half of this year and circumstances of one case that ended in death are being investigated. In the first half of last year there were 4 and in 2010, 3 work-related deaths.
Estonian Labour Inspection says that around a third of all accidents happen in the first year of work, reported LETA.
