62% Estonian patients get specialised doctors' appointments in allowed timeframe

The Estonian Health Insurance Fund report that was revealed on Tuesday indicates that an average of 62% of patients get a regular appointment with a specialised doctor in the period of time prescribed by regulations, LETA/Delfi reports.

In regional hospitals – North Estonian Regional Hospital, Tallinn Children's Hospital and Tartu University Clinic, an average of 52% of patients got an appointment in the period of time prescribed by regulations and in 48% of cases the time limit was exceeded due to such a choice of the patient. In 1% of cases the time limit was exceeded because of shortage of capacity of the hospital.

 

In general hospitals, 82% of patients got an appointment in allowed time. 11% got a later appointment due to their own wish and 6% because of shortage of capacity of the hospital.

 

In the largest general hospitals (East Tallinn Central Hospital, West Tallinn Central Hospital, Pärnu Hospital and Ida-Viru Central Hospital) 63% patients got their appointment in time and 37% did not, as chosen by themselves.
