Police bust a large-scale prostitution ring in Riga

Print versionOfficers from the Organized Crime Enforcement Department in Riga have detained members of three organized crime groups operating several prostitution rings, as well as another person for organizing ''door to door'' sexual services.

Overall, 17 persons have been detained, including nine women. The work of six brothels in Riga have also been halted, LETA was informed by State Police press representative Sintija Virse.
''Thanks to the investigative work by police over a longer period of time, as well as cooperation between other law enforcement partners and support from prosecutors, we have been able to achieve positive results and interrupt these illegal activities,'' Virse emphasized.
Criminal processes have been started against all those involved.
