Grain prices in Latvia increased by 16-27% in the fall

Grain prices in Latvia in fall 2011 are on the average 16% to 27% higher than last fall, Agriculture Ministry's deputy state secretary Rigonda Lerhe told Nozare.lv.

The prices for wheat, rye, barley and oats are respectively 16%, 12%, 24% and 27% higher than last fall, writes LETA.

Last October, a ton of wheat cost LVL 120, whereas this year the price is LVL 140. Rye cost LVL 110 per ton last fall and LVL 122 now, barley prices have increased from LVL 92 to LVL 114 per ton, and prices for oats from LVL 73 to LVL 92.9 per ton.

On the other hand, the price of buckwheat has reduced 44% – from LVL 347 per ton last fall to LVL 192 this year.
