Merit Kopli will continue as the editor-in-chief of Postimees and Erik Roose as Director General of the company. Chairman of the supervisory board of Postimees Mart Kadastik explained that the new management structure will make it possible to merge all resources better and to develop products on different platforms.

Postimees is a complicated organisation,” said Kadastik. “It has both paper and online editions, published in Estonian as well as in the Russian language,” he added. According to Kadastik, the new leadership role will make it possible to see the biggest Estonian media enterprise in a comprehensive manner, both today as well as in the context of the future media.

“The fact that Postimees prioritises good journalism ought to be apparent by Anvar Samost taking up the position at the head of Postimees. Samost is an experienced company executive as well as a highly demanding journalist,” said Kadastik.

Samost has studied journalism in the University of Tartu. He worked for Postimees in 1992, in the newspaper Hommikuleht from 1993 to 1995, in the news agency BNS from 1995 to 2011, six years of which he was the CEO of BNS.
