Nina Kolyako, BC, Riga, 07.04.2011.Print version
After an in-depth analysis of the situation at the cable television and electronic communication company Baltkom, cable TV provider Izzi owners and investors have decided against an equal merger of Izzi and Baltkom, and now offer to buy 100% of Baltkom shares, at the same time demanding that Baltkom founder and CEO Peteris Smidre relinquishes any ties to Baltkom, as Izzi board chairman Helmut Kohl says in an interview with the business portal Nozare.lv.

Izzi owners have been trying to acquire Baltkom for several years in order to establish a company that would be able to compete with Lattelecom, and this goal has not changed, said Kohl.

Izzi experts have carried out an in-depth analysis of the situation, and the company changed its offer. Smidre has been informed that Izzi is no longer interested in a merger with Baltkom but wants to acquire the company, explained Kohl.

Kohl reveals that there is one more company that wants to acquire Baltkom, but refuses to reveal the other company's name, writes LETA.
