Pegasas bookshop chain owned by the biggest book publishing and trade group in the Baltic States Alma Literra achieved a turnover of 11 million litas (3.18 million euros) (excluding VAT) in January-June 2008, an increase of 66% year-on-year.

"The good results were determined by the selling promotions, which attracted quite a number of visitors to the bookshops, and by the active bookshop chain development in Lithuanian regions," said Mindaugas Balciunas, director of the bookshop chain Pegasas.

According to Balciunas, it is planned to open 4-5 bookshops by the end of the year, the biggest of which (500 square meters) will be established in the retail trade center Panorama, in Vilnius.
