Estonian National Broadcasting wants to get back rights to air commercials

Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn, 22.10.2010.Print version
After years of disputes, Estonian National Broadcasting hopes to confirm its rights of airing commercials with sports and culture events, LETA/Eesti Päevaleht Online reports.

“The proposals (to change the broadcasting law) have already been compiled but before we have achieved agreements with all concerned parties I would not like to divulge more,” said National Broadcasting council chairman Andres Jõesaar yesterday.

This means that National Broadcasting has to first reach an agreement with private channels and parties. National Broadcasting would like to air around 500 minutes of advertising a year but private channels might consider it too much.

Jõesaar said that he hopes that an agreement could be reached before the next Riigikogu elections.
