Vilniaus Vandenys plans investment and increase in cold water price

Print versionOver the first five months of 2010, Vilniaus Vandenys suffered losses of 2.5 million litas (723,770 euros). In the face of a complicated situation, it is necessary to raise cold water prices to be able to plan new investment, Head of Vilniaus Vandenys Valentinas Miltienis said in a news conference on Tuesday.

It is planned to increase the price of cold water up to 50%. In this case, a cubic metre of cold water would cost up to 6.33 litas for the residents of Vilnius and Vilnius district, Svencionys and Salcininkai. Presently, a cubic metre of cold water costs 4.22 litas for Vilniaus Vandenys clients, informs LETA/ELTA.
The National Control Commission for Prices and Energy will consider Vilniaus Vandenys' application for raising the price of cold water at the end of summer. The new price will also need the approval of Vilnius city municipal council.
