The application for a licence to organise online gambling has been submitted by the world’s largest poker site, but the proceedings are still unfinished.
According to the new Gambling Act, an enterprise is required to hold a gambling permit as well as a licence to organise online gambling if it wants to operate an online gambling business in Estonia.
While the gambling licence issued to Pokerstars by the Tax and Customs Board will enter into force on August 23, the online gambling licence is still being applied for. This means that the block on Pokerstars’ website is still in force.
“Applying for a licence is always a complicated process and I am very glad that by now Pokerstars has met all criteria for receiving a gambling organiser’s licence in Estonia,” stated the Baltic manager of Pokerstars Tomas Larsson.
By now, online gambling licences have been issued by the Estonian Tax and Customs Board to AS Olympic Casino Eesti, AS Pafer and to OÜ Triogames.
