Saeima approves new rules on Latvian companies bidding for public procurement contracts

Saeima today passed amendments to the Public Procurement Law in the final reading, introducing several important changes in the law in Latvia.

From now, only such companies that pay their staff salaries of no less than 70% of the average salary in the given sector will be permitted to bid for state and municipal procurement contracts, informs LETA.
Furthermore, only such companies will be entitled to bid for public procurement contracts whose tax debt does not exceed LVL 100.
From now, the companies that win a public procurement contract will have to hand in all necessary documents within ten days to prove that they meet all the official criteria. If this deadline is missed, a new tender will be announced.
