The European Commission have chosen the company Madara Cosmetics as the ambassador in Latvia for "European Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Week 2010" in recognition of the company's goal-orientated nature, creative approach, and investment in environmentally-friendly production, the business portal Nozare.lv was informed by Madara Cosmetics representative Kristiana Antoniske.

The European Commission is organizing the event for the second year running, choosing 37 ambassadors for the event from various countries. The chosen companies have all shown themselves to be fully capable participants in the market within a short space of time, developing innovative ideas and also expanding their activities into the international arena, explained Antoniske.

"European SME Week 2010" will take place from May 25 until June 1, and will feature conferences, seminars, training events, discussion forums and awards ceremonies in 37 European countries. The aim of the event is to better inform the public on developments in the sector, popularize entrepreneurship, and reward companies for investments in European welfare, job creation, innovation and competitiveness, according to the Madara representative.

Madara Cosmetics began export activities in September 2008, and its products can now be bought at over 200 retail outlets in 25 countries worldwide, informs LETA.

The company is planning to expand its production in Latvia in the near future in order to widen its operations in China and the U.S. Last year 55% of the company's turnover came from exports, while this year the target is 70%.
