The President underlined in the meeting that the visit by China's Vice Premier Hui Liangyu last August and the present visit by the Minister of Commerce were a sign of increasingly close economic relations between Lithuania and China. President Grybauskaitė plans to go to China this coming Autumn to visit the international exposition EXPO2010 in Shanghai.
"Lithuania seeks close cooperation with China in the field of the development of transport and logistics infrastructure. Our geographical location is very favourable in this respect as we have a deep-sea port of Klaipėda and a number of well-developed logistic centres. Chinese freight transport companies could take the benefit of the strategically well-located transport and logistic potential of Lithuania," President Dalia Grybauskaitė said.
According to the President, a more dynamic Lithuanian-Chinese dialogue should be promoted in the context of Asia-Europe Meetings of Transport Ministers. The President and the Minister also exchanged views on possibilities to promote bilateral investment.
