Solaris Centre announced that the construction company Merko has not admitted to the sub-standard construction works that caused the ceiling in a cinema hall to collapse nor has Merko compensated for the damages, writes LETA/EPL Online.

Therefore, the entertainment and shopping centre filed a lawsuit against Merko Ehitus.

Managing director of Solaris Anneli Palvadre stated that due to the collapsed ceiling, Solaris suffered a couple of dozens of millions of kroons in damages.

An investigation by the Technical Supervision Board determined that the collapse of a ceiling in a Cinamon cinema hall was caused by the disruption of connections between suspension device and metal bars. The board did not issue any precepts as the shortcomings in the construction of ceilings have been removed and the cinema halls are safe for visitors.

It was determined that due to the deviation of construction works from the project, some suspension devices were burdened by twice the weight than the producer of the devices recommended.
