The American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia holds annual general meeting

- Daiga Auzina-Melalksne, CEO of NASDAQ OMX Riga;
- Aleksis Karlsons, CEO of Hotel Bergs and A&E Consulting;
- Alexander Sasha Kelberg, CEO of GroGlass and NCH Investment Manager;
- Ivars Slokenbergs, Associate of Klavins & Slaidins.
The elected Board Members will serve 2 years on the Board, reported BC Liga Bertulsone.

In addition to the four board members voted in, the Board consists of: Romans Baumanis, Regional Advisor to Nord-Stream in the Baltic States; Matthew Hadley, Partner of Advisory services, KPMG Baltics; Ilze Jurkane, former Vice President of GE Money Bank; Matiss Kukainis, Partner of Spigulis & Kukainis Law Office and Liga Bertulsone, Executive Director.
U.S. Ambassador to Latvia Judith Garber opened the meeting with a speech, emphasizing the close cooperation between the U.S. Embassy in Riga and AmCham Latvia. One of the key priorities of the Embassy is to help broaden and strengthen the economic ties between Latvia and the United States. She said: „The Chamber is the leading example in promoting good corporate citizenship and we would like to expand this idea.”
Jerry Wirth, President of the Chamber, outlined the Chamber’s accomplishments of the past year and goals for the next year. During 2009 the Chamber has continued to develop as a professional business organization, organizing numerous events, including AmCham Outlook, a high level economic forum to debate most pressing issues in Latvia. According to Mr. Wirth, one of the main achievements of the Chamber was implementation of the Statement of Good Corporate Citizenship to foster an improvement in Latvia’s business environment.
Jerry Wirth resigned from the Board after 6 years of service. Members expressed their sincere thanks to him for his leadership and dedicated service to the Chamber over the years.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia, founded in 1993, is one of the largest foreign Chambers in the Baltics representing 120 members who are committed to strengthening trade relations between the U.S. and Latvia.
