Despite the general economic fall, tough price competition and the fire in the Mustika shopping centre, Prisma Peremarket managed to earn a profit of 319,780 kroons in 2009, while its turnover fell by 13% to 1.809 billion kroons, LETA/Äripäev.ee reports.
The company’s managing directror Janne Lihavainen said that the most important achievements of the year were keeping Prisma supermarkets’ price level at around the same level as discounter stores offer and that the chain has managed without cutting wages and without redundancies.
In addition to the economic recession and price pressures, Prisma’s results were affected by the fire in the Mustika shopping centre in Tallinn that kept its Prisma supermarket of the centre closed for quite a while. Also the disappearance of the Säästukaart bonus card affected the results.
Prisma is a shopping chain belonging to SOK group. It operates in Finnish, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Russian markets.
