Print versionThe new year 2010 brought to Estonia several tax increases, increasing the prices of fuel, alcohol as well as cigarettes, Õhtuleht/LETA writes.

The price of petrol and diesel fuel should increase due to the increase of motor fuel excise tax increase by around a half a kroon a litre. Finance Ministry finance and tax policy deputy chancellor Veiko Tali stressed that fuel retailers certainly have collected reserves and the price of fuel at petrol stations should not increase at once.
A pack of cigarettes costs by 5% more, i.e. an average of 1 kroon per pack starting January 1.
10% increase of alcohol excise tax will add around 6.25% to the price of a half a litre of strong alcohol and 2% per 0.33 litres of weak alcohol.
