The enterprise announced that the plant’s processing capacity in two shifts will be 80,000 tonnes of municipal waste and 10,000 tonnes of industrial and construction waste per year.
CEO of Ragn-Sells Rein Leipalu stated that the plant will produce high-quality waste fuel that can be used by industrial manufacturing enterprises – such as the Kunda cement plant. “In processing, reusable materials such as metals, plastic, paper and inert waste that can be used as filling in construction works will be separated and hence the plant will help re-use more waste and will make the living environment better,” he explained.
Operations manager of Ragn-Sells Agu Remmelg added that the technology to be used in the plant will be on an entirely different level in comparison to using landfills. “In comparison to mass incineration, the advantage of waste fuel is the lower cost price and the nearly inexistent amount of waste that needs to be stored in landfills after the processing,” he stated.
