Print versionEstonian supermarket operator A-Selver has conserved its stores in Latvia and keeps the land it has bought, for expansion, on hold, meaning that it cannot be ruled out that the stores would be re-opened when economic situation improves, A-Selver council member Andres Jarving told Aripaev/LETA.

"We have closed the stores and conserved them. The stores are guarded and lights are on and they are waiting for their time," said Jarving.
Selver hasn't tried to directly sell real estate it has in Latvia.
"There have been a couple of inquiries but nothing has been decided yet", noted Jarving, adding that Latvia's retail trade is stagnant at the moment.
Other options cannot be ruled out; however, the priority is to keep the stores ready for re-opening till the end of 2012, Jarving pointed out.
