Nitrofert to become distributor for Ostchem

BC, Tallinn, 05.09.2016.Print version
The northeast Estonia based industrial company AS Nitrofert that issued new shares worth 119 mln euros in the summer is set to continue business via a subsidiary, Nitrofert Trading B.V., that will act as distributor for products of the Ostchem group, reports LETA/BNS.

On Aug. 4 this year the parent company of Nitrofert, Ostchem Resources Limited, made a non-cash payment into the registered capital of Nitrofert in the form of a stake in Dynapol Trading B.V. As a result, the stock capital of Nitrofert grew by 118.9 mln euros and Dynapol Trading B.V. became full owner of Nitrofert. The new business name of Dynapol Trading B.V. is Nitrofert Trading B.V.

"As a result of the continued decline in the world market prices for our products, such as ammonia, carbamide and so forth, it is not possible to restart operations at our company in the near future because it would not be economically feasible," told Nitrofert  General Director Aleksei Nikolajev.

He added that as a result, business in Ostchem Group is being reprofiled.

Nitrofert Trading B.V. is to engage in the distribution and sale of products of companies of the group and other manufacturers. "The company is targeting consumers in the Benelux countries and France," Nikolajev said.

Nitrofert discontinued operations and conserved all 51 buildings in its territory in the second half of last year. Nitrofert has not yet filed its annual report for 2015. In 2014, when the plant was in a standby mode, the company earned a profit of 25.7 mln euros on sales of 142,000 euros. The company said the profit was the result of a supplier abandoning its claim on Nitrofert.

The company finished 2013 with a loss of 11.8 mln euros.

Nitrofert is part of the Ostchem Holding group that consolidates chemical assets of Group DF associated with the Ukrainian tycoon Dmitry Firtash.
