Balticovo plans to sell at least 1 mln eggs this Easter

Like in previous years, activity in the egg industry increases two to three weeks ahead of Easter holidays, with sales of packaged eggs sometimes surging 50% as compared to quieter periods, Auskaps said.
Asked about white eggs which Balticovo has been buying in Finland in previous years, the company's representatives said that Balticovo is stocking up on them also this year, as demand for white eggs rises ahead of Easter but hens laying white eggs are rare in Latvia's poultry farms.
Auskaps also said that most wholesalers buy white eggs from producers in Poland, Lithuania and Estonia where the prices are lower, but that Balticovo receives the white eggs from a long-standing business partner in Finland, which guarantees food safety and quality standards.
Balticovo closed 2014 with a turnover of EUR 42.798 million and earned a profit of EUR 2.151 million.
Balticovo, founded in 1992, is the leading producer of eggs and egg products in Latvia. The company's largest owner is BCO (95.42%).
