“This time, we talked [with China’s Prime Minister Li Keqiang] about the way the executives of Lithuania’s milk processing companies should behave when entering the Chinese market. China’s Prime Minister noted that dairy products are high quality and are attractive for China’s market. If they want to sell more products in that market, they have to find partners here in China as then it will be much easier for them to enter the Chinese market,” Butkevicius told BNS by phone from Beijing.

More details about possibilities to export dairy products to China would be provided on Friday after a meeting with China’s business representatives and veterinary service officials, he added.

Lithuania has been trying for several years now to get the green light for meat and dairy exports to China. Vilnius is currently waiting for China to issue certificates that would open the way for Lithuanian dairy product exports to that country.
