Atria Eesti records EUR 9.1 mln goodwill write-down

BC, Tallinn, 18.12.2015.Print version
The Finnish Atria group has decided to make a 9.1-million-euro goodwill write-down on its Estonian operation Atria Eesti in the final quarter of 2015, reports LETA/BNS.

The challenging market environment in Estonia has weakened the expected return of the business of Atria Baltic. As a result of impairment testing, Atria has decided to make a goodwill write-down in the amount of 9.1 million euros in the last quarter of 2015.

The write-down will be allocated to the Atria Baltic segment. The write-down will affect EBIT but will have no effect on cash flow, Atria said in a disclosure to the stock exchange.

The EBIT of Atria Eesti was 100,000 euros and of the Atria group 9.1 million euros in the first half of 2015.

The Estonian pigmeat sector has been affected by developments on global markets as well as trade restrictions arising from the spread of African swine fever (ASF).

Atria Eesti is the second-largest pork producer in Estonia. It owns three well-known trade marks: Maks & Moorits, Woro and VK.
