This meeting has been arranged within the framework of a wider programme of the official visit of the ECA delegation to Lithuania. The main theme of the visit is challenges of accountability and public sector audit, the National Audit Office said.

The ECA delegation also includes Dean of the CEAD Chamber Coordination, Evaluation, Assurance and Development, Igors Ludborzs, Dean of Chamber IV, Martin Milan Cvikl, Dean of Chamber I, Rasa Budbergyte, and members Jan Kinst, Ladislav Balko, Augustyn Kubik, and Henrik Otbo.

"The visit to Lithuania is intended to exchange ideas on how to strengthen accountability so that European Union's growth and jobs strategy Europe 2020 facilitates the sustainable growth of the EU, including Lithuania. Lithuania is doing a good job in managing EU financial assistance funds, auditors of the National Audit Office are highly experienced in auditing these funds, and the cooperation of the European Court of Auditors with the Lithuanian SAI could be seen as a good example. We hope to be able to find ways to further enhance and strengthen this cooperation," said Vitor Caldeira before the meeting.

The programme of the visit of the ECA delegation in Lithuania will also include a conference at the Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas), meetings with the Speaker of the Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, the Minister of Economy, the Minister of Agriculture, and specialists responsible for the administration of EU structural assistance.
