Pliners to organize rally against Latvia's foreign policy towards Russia

Print versionOn Friday, August 15, at 11:00 a.m., one of the leaders of the Latvian Union of Russians and former MP Jakovs Pliners will organize a rally outside the Foreign Ministry against Latvia's foreign policy towards Russia which has led to sanctions from Russia, Pliners' spokesman Aleksandrs Livcaks informs LETA.

Pliners wishes to show the Latvian and EU leadership that ''the Latvian people strive for favorable neighborly relations with Russia, without a provoked trade war, which is against the interests of the people of these two countries''.
Pliners, who is also running in the upcoming Saeima elections, believes that the Foreign Ministry's actions are most likely in accordance with Unity's pre-election interests, but are not in the interests of the Latvian people, as well as stable economic and cultural links between Latvia and Russia.
