"This significant additional funding dedicated to the pay of the legal aid provided for the poor people will ensure to guarantee the legal aid for a bigger group of people and will allow eliminating the debts for the state's lawyers," said Lithuania's Minister of Justice Juozas Bernatonis.
The sum of money for the secondary legal aid was significantly reduced in 2009, during the crisis in Lithuania. For example, in 2008, the sums reached LTL 15.55 million (EUR 4.5 million), in 2009 – 13.245 million (EUR 3.834 million).
The similar sums were allocated in 2010, 2011 and 2012 – about LTL 13 million (EUR 3.7 million).
