Kutris was the only candidate.
After today's vote, Kutris told members of the press that he was not surprised at the outcome of the vote, but he was a bit worried this morning.
He pointed out that this year will most likely remain busy for the Constitutional Court, as more and more attempts to organize referendums could take place.
The Constitutional Court chairman is elected to a three-year term.
Kutris has served as Constitutional Court chairman since January 31, 2007. He was reelected in 2010.
The current Constitutional Court judges are Kutris, Aija Branta, Sanita Osipova, Uldis Kinis, Kaspars Balodis, Kristine Kruma and Vineta Muizniece, who is charged with forgery and suspended.
