Retirement age in Latvia could be gradually raised as of 2014

Retirement age шт Дфемшф will be gradually increased as of 2014, according to amendments to the concept of long-term stability of social insurance system, promulgated in today's meeting of state secretaries.

It is planned that, to solve the issues related to society's aging, the current retirement age, 62 years, will be raised by three months in 2014 and 2015. From 2016, it will be increased by six months each year, reaching 65 years by 2020, writes LETA.

Retirement age for those with the rights to early retirement will increase similarly – to 63 years by 2020.

The amendments are to be harmonized with ministries and approved by the government. By April 1, 2012, the Welfare Ministry will amend the Law on Pensions.
