Union to take court action against Estonian Police and Border Guard Board

Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn, 28.12.2011.Print version
The union representatives of the Police and Border Guard Board of Estonia are taking the agency's management to court because an unconfirmed number of public servants have been notified, with little explanation, that their service rank will be downgraded on January 1, 2012, the Estonian national broadcasting corporation ERR reports referring to Eesti Paevaleht.

Some of the employees' rankings were lowered by two levels, writes LETA.

But those who were stripped of just one rank do not even have to be notified, according to the current law.

As representatives of the union claimed, current Police and Border Guard Board employees do not know what work they will be doing, what their job position will be, and how much they will be paid when a new organizational law becomes effective at the start of the new year.
