Alla Petrova, BC, Riga, 16.12.2011.Print version
Today, the Riga Central District Court declared the People's Party insolvent, LETA was informed by court spokesman Janis Jaksons.

Valerijs Andrejevs has been appointed by the court as the insolvency process administrator.

Today's court ruling cannot be appealed, Jaksons added.

As reported, the People's Party filed for insolvency at the end of November.

The party's insolvency petition was initially put on hold by the court as the party had not submitted all the necessary evidence and had not paid the LVL 50 duty for filing the petition.

LETA also reported, the liquidator of the People's Party, the party's former secretary general Ramona Pitena previously told LETA that People's Party's account currently holds about LVL 3,000.

The Corruption Prevention Bureau has ordered the People's Party to transfer to the state budget LVL 1.03 million, which the party received and spent illegally on the party's "positivism campaign" in 2008.

On September 22, the Supreme Court's Senate upheld the Administrative District Court's November 25, 2010 verdict and ordered the People's Party pay LVL 1.03 million to the state budget.
