Zatlers' supporters create website reformupartija.lv

Alla Petrova, BC, Riga, 07.07.2011.Print version
A group of supporters of outgoing President Valdis Zatlers has established a website www.reformupartija.lv, as LETA has found out.

The website offers no information at present. The website only has "Reformu partija" in red letters written on white background, and several silhouettes, of which one has begun to run.

The domain registration information reveal though that the website has been created by advertising and marketing expert Maris Kravalis, who previously confirmed to LETA that he was the administrator of the website and represented a group of Zatlers' supporters. The website is just a "blank" to be filled in later in the future, and no one has paid any money to anyone for the creation of the website.

The group of Zatlers' supporters includes several dozen people who "support Zatlers' efforts," said Kravalis.

Kravalis declined to confirm or deny that Zatlers himself was a member of the group. Kravalis repeated what Zatlers had said: that he could announce his future plans after his presidency expires.

Latvian State Television previously reported that Zatlers, whose term of office as the president of Latvia comes to an end tomorrow, was planning to found a new political party that would be called the Reform Party.

Zatlers has said that he will announce his future plans after July 8.
