Estonia will start issuing residence permit cards to foreigners

Print versionStarting 2011, the Estonian state will start issuing residence permit cards to all foreigners who are not European Union citizens and who live in Estonia, LETA/National Breasting reports.

Fingerprints will be put on the card meaning that the applicant has to personally go the Police and Border Guard Board.
The residence permit card concerns all people who want to apply for a residence permit or who live in Estonia with a residence permit. As of July there were 260,000 such people.
The residence permit card can be used just like an ID card for e-services, giving digital signature etc.
