Lithuania’s ICECO has split its operations into four smaller companies and divested its fish business and will now be able to use the European Union’s (EU) investment to double its ice-cream output, the Verslo Zinios business daily reports on December 29th, cites LETA/BNS.

Earlier this year, ICECO was reorganized into four separate legal entities, including ICECO, which provides logistical services, ICECO group, which is engaged in retail and operates a chain of own-brand stores, ICECO Ledai, which produces ice cream and ICECO Zuvis, which produces fish and fish products.

A couple of weeks ago, ICECO Zuvis had been sold to Vulkana, whose main shareholder is Cyprus-registered Vulcaniaco Holdings, Valdemaras Salauskas, ICECO CEO, told the daily.

Meanwhile, ICECO Ledai plans to increase its production capacity nearly twofold. Four production lines currently operated by the company have the combined capacity to process 24 tons of raw milk per day. Following the acquisition – with the EU support – of the fifth production line, the capacity will increase to 50 tons.
