During the meeting, the Prime Minister noted that Latvia and China are bounded with stable and constructive relations; also the trade volume between the two countries is increasing and there is the need to expand the cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics.
L. Straujuma noted with satisfaction that the certification of the Latvian meat and dairy products in China has been successful and the first Latvian products are already being exported to China.
Both parties praised the cooperation in the fields of education and culture. It is possible to acquire a bachelor's degree in Latvian language in the Beijing International University, while in Latvia, the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia is working actively, educating anyone interested in the Chinese language and culture.
The Prime Minister and Ambassador discussed the visit to China scheduled for the end of November, and also the participation in the Meeting of the Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern Europe (16+1), which will give a good impetus for further development of cooperation between Latvia and China.
