Foreign investment in Estonia decreases by 1% in 2011

Print versionForeign investment in Estonia totaled 26.4 billion euros at the end of 2011, having decreased only by 1% from the previous year, the Bank of Estonia reports.

Estonia's gross external debt, that is the total external debt of all economic sectors, comprised 59% or 15.7 billion euros of total direct investment in Estonia, having shrunk by 5%, year-on-year, writes LETA/ELTA.
Gross external debt was 15% larger than GDP at the end of 2010, while only two% smaller than GDP at the end of 2011.
Estonian residents' investment abroad grew by five% from a year ago to 17.1 billion euros at the end of 2011.
