GECO Investicijos authorised to build biofuel power plant in Vilnius

Company GECO Investicijos has been authorised to build a biofuel power plant in Vilnius after three years of harmonisation process, informs LETA/ELTA.

GECO's biofuel thermal power plant in Kaunas.

GECO Investicijos intends to build in Vilnius a 20 Megawatt (MW) thermal power plant with a 5 MW condensing economiser for LTL 35 million (EUR 10 million). The project should be completed before the launch of 2015 heating season.

 

GECO Investicijos constructed and has been operating a 20 MW biofuel thermal power plant in Kaunas and a 4 MW one in Joniskis.

 

Apart from the planned thermal power plant in Vilnius, which should break ground soon, the company is also developing a combined power plant project with 20 MW heat and 5 MW electrical power capacity. It is still to receive a construction permit. Moreover, power plant projects with a total capacity of 75 MW are under different development stages in others cities as well. Including a combined biofuel power plant in Siauliai.

 

70% of GECO Investicijos group shares is owned by the Rakauskai family, 30% is owned by private capital investment group Zabolis ir Partneriai.
