Peter Hunt, owner of one of Europe's biggest bed textiles producer Wendre that is based in Estonia bought Finnish leading home textiles producer Finlayson's two plants in Finland and one in St Petersburg, retail stores in the Baltic states and Russia and the Familon trademark, Äripäev.ee/LETA reports.

Finlayson's retail stores in Finland will stay in Finlayson's ownership. Finlayson belongs since 1999 to CapMan investment fund.

Peter Hunt, council chairman of Wendre that manages five production units in Estonia, Poland and China now, said that the transaction enables the concern to fortify its position as the region's leading producer and enter the retail market for the first time. "The Finlayson trademark Familon has in Finland a very long-term and strong position, especially regarding textiles design," noted Hunt. "If we add our concern's strong financial side, innovative high-tech production and development and export markets, we get a model that complements each other, of which the whole Scandinavian and European home textiles market will benefit," said Hunt.

Familon blankets and pillows are produced in Kankaanpää, Finland; it employs 45 people.

In Heinola, Finland, Familon upholstery, beds and mattresses production takes place. The plant employs 60 people. Finlayson has a total of four stores in Estonia, 2 in Lithuania and 5 in Russia.

In late May, Hunt bought from Mainor its beds and mattresses manufacturing subsidiary, Tarmel Furniture in Estonia.
