Tallinn buys four more trams from CAF

BC, Tallinn, 24.02.2014.Print version
Tallinna Linnatranspordi AS (Tallinn City Transport Co - TLT) board member Enno Tamm and CAF export regional manager Carlos Moreno signed an agreement in the framework of which four more trams will be bought for the city, exercising an option, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

The purchase of the trams is financed from revenues of the state from unused CO2 pollution quota that is channelled into environment-friendly projects. Since the pollution quota funds won't suffice, TLT pays 243,000 euro from its own means. The total amount of the contract is 9.8 million euros.

TLT concluded an agreement with CAF in February last year for buying 16 new trams and together with the 4 additional trams, Tallinn will get 20 new trams.

Due to the new trams, the city fully renovates and extends its 3rd and 4th tram lines during 2014 and 2015 for 26 mln euros. The first new trams will arrive in November this year.
