One of the most modern in the Baltic States pharmaceutical assembly line will also be installed at the logistics centre.
Construction of the logistics centre is the biggest investment project so far by Gintarine Vaistine company group. The new building will replace the old logistics centre which was operational since 1994. In addition to 8,400 square meter storage facilities, 1,200 square meters of office space is planned, where administration of Gintarine Vaistine, wholesale company Limedika and other companies of the group will be located.
According to Chairman of the Board of Gintarine Vaistine group Egle Zulaniene, it was decided to begin construction due to the quick expansion of the group and the wish to increase the range of services.
Each day UAB Limedika is supplying pharmaceuticals and other medical products to more than 300 hospitals and 1400 pharmacies across Lithuania. "Construction of the new storage and office facilities is essential for the company's expansion. From now on we will also supply the Latvian pharmacy market and provide storage and services to other medical product manufacturers," said Zulaniene.
In the next few years the new assembly line will be installed at the logistics centre. "Currently the employees fulfil orders by hand. They go through the warehouse and collect the goods. Then it is checked whether the needed products were selected and the next day they are delivered to the customer. We are planning to invest LTL 3.5 million (EUR 1 million) in the assembly line which would help automate almost the whole process. This investment will allow avoid mistakes and improve customer service as the order fulfilment time will become even shorter," said Zulaniene.
Gintarine Vaistine group is constituted of Gintarine Vaistine and Norfos Vaistine pharmacies, and UAB Limedika.
The turnover of the group in 2012 was LTL 516 million (EUR 149 million), and in the first half of 2013 – LTL 276 million (EUR 80 million). The group owns 227 Gintarine Vaistine pharmacies and 84 Norfos Vaistine pharmacies. Around 20,000 different products of 300 companies are sold.
