Norma-A, the operator of international passenger buses Ecolines, continued to steadily increase turnover in the first six months this year: the company's turnover increased 16 percent from the first half of 2012, amounting to LVL 6.3 million, reported LETA/Nozare.lv.

The company's profit in the first half-year was LVL 50,100, compared to a loss of LVL 52,900 sustained in the first six months of 2012.

The amount of the company's investments also increased significantly in the first half of 2013. The company has invested a total of LVL 610,000 so far this year in the purchases of new buses, opening new routes and introducing new services.

The company's head Andris Podgornijs says that the demand for the company's services continues to increase, which is why new routes are being opened and more buses operate on these routes. In the first six months, a total of approximately 80,000 passengers traveled on Ecolines buses in the Baltic countries, compared to 35,000 in the first half of 2012.

The company has two branches in Lithuania and Estonia that sell Ecolines tickets in the other two Baltic countries.

"Norma-A" belongs to Podgornijs (55.3 percent) and Jegors Ribzamens (44.7 percent). The company offers passenger transport services in the Baltic countries and to cities in Europe, Russia and other CIS countries.

Last year, a total of more than 500,000 passengers used the company's services.
