The company has been working on its new line of business for six months. Earlier this summer, Baltcom carried out an in-depth analysis to establish that residents consider price, cost predictability and fewer bills to pay the main factors in choosing their electricity supplier, reported LETA.
Sadales tilks electric power distribution company has already signed agreement with Baltcom on information exchange.
Baltcom will initially offer its customers to buy fixed annual amounts of electric power, 75 or 100 kilowatt hours a month, along with Baltcom television, telephony and Internet services.
If a customer exceeds the amount, a tariff of 11.7 santims per kilowatt hour will apply. Residents will be able to sign up for the new service for three months, until November 5, 2014.
At the moment, the company's activity is limited due to the uncertainty on the household electricity market and the government's decision to postpone review of liberalization of the electricity market.
Speaking with the Nozare.lv business portal, Kirsteins said that Baltcom would initially sell electricity as part of telecommunication sets. After the electricity market is deregulated for households, Baltcom could also sell electricity separately.
Those Baltcom clients that apply for the new service by September 1 will begin to receive electricity from Baltcom on October 1. Clients will be offered to change conditions of the contract one time for the duration of the contract, added Kirsteins.
