Kaunas city – export leader of Lithuanian goods

The majority of exported goods were fertilizers, furniture, corn, machinery and equipment.
The top destination countries of Lithuania's exports were Germany (13.4%), the United Kingdom (8.1%), France (7.1%), Latvia (6.4%) and Sweden (6.1%).
In the beginning of 2012, there were almost 12,000 of economic entities. The majority of them were retail trade and wholesale trade companies.
In the first quarter of 2012 year-on-year Lithuanian export increased by 16.8% or by LTL 3 billion (EUR 868 million) to LTL 20.7 billion (EUR 5.9 billion), while in March the export of goods increased by 18.4% or by LTL 1.2 billion (EUR 347.5 million) to LTL 7.5 billion (EUR 2.1 billion), said Enterprise Lithuania.
According to the growth of export volume Lithuania is leading among the Baltic States, since in the first quarter of this year export in Latvia increased by 7.7%, whereas export in Estonia increased by 2.9%.
In the first quarter of this year the export of Lithuanian origin goods increased by 16.7% or by LTL 1.1 billion (EUR 318.5 million) to LTL 7.3 billion (EUR 2.1 billion), while re-export of goods increased by 17.2% or by LTL 1.1 billion (EUR 318.5 million) to LTL 7.3 billion (EUR 2.1 billion), said analyst Vadim Ivanov at Enterprise Lithuania. Excluding the influence of petrol products, in the first quarter of 2013 the export in the rest Lithuanian industry sectors increased by 12.6%.
"In 2013 petrol product export has been leading in volume, whereas export in agriculture, food and textile industries has increased as well. Though the indicators of chemical industry are still negative, March is more optimistic and we expect to see the growth of this sector very soon," said Ivanov.
